Adrienne’s New Lease on Life
Adrienne was 64 when she came for her initial appointment. She reported significant memory loss and said she didn’t feel like herself. Over the next year, her memory and quality of life continued to decline. She had a car accident after swerving out of control, trying to remember where she was driving. She began to feel more detached from her husband. Her memory reached its lowest point after he died. After encouragement from our doctors and her family, Adrienne entered the Brain Fitness Program and immediately began seeing results. In addition to a 70 percent self-reported improvement in memory, she felt motivated to begin painting again, an activity she had given up after her husband’s death. By the end of the program, an MRI scan showed an 8.6 percent increase in the size of her brain’s hippocampus.
Linda: Out of the Fog
Linda is a secretary in her early sixties. During her first appointment, she complained of brain fogginess. She reported having difficulty at work, where she was often required to remember multiple tasks, but couldn’t keep track of them. She began having word-finding difficulties. These symptoms were impacting her mood and demeanor. Her partner felt that it was difficult to maintain a conversation with her. After an assessment, we enrolled Linda in the Brain Fitness Program, where her turnaround was soon evident. Her mood, communication skills and cognition improved a self-reported 60 percent. Her happiness was a delight to see.
From Migraines to Memory
Elena is a journalist in her 40s who had suffered from headaches since her early twenties. She was having trouble with concentration and attention that she associated with her migraines and difficulty sleeping. She began the Brain Fitness Program and after 12 weeks, reported tremendous improvements in her memory and energy levels. A review of her pre- and post- program brain MRIs showed a 5 percent growth in the size of her brain’s hippocampus. Her newfound brain power improved all aspects of her life, from keeping track of her children’s schedules to feeling more focused in her writing.
The Enemy of Memory
Frankie is in her mid to late 40s. She had obstructive sleep apnea and headaches since childhood. She had tried conventional interventions such as medications, but the symptoms persisted, leaving her depressed and taking a toll on her memory. After 12 weeks in the program, a lifetime of headaches vanished, and with it her depression.
Improvement One Day at a Time
Bill had been through multiple surgeries for a crushed skull following a serious work accident. The surgeries restored his appearance, but the accident left him with ongoing severe headaches and damage to his memory and cognitive skills. After the program, he said he was able to remember, multitask, and do things again without having to write them down. “It helped me deal with me on a daily basis better.”
