The Science

Remember this word: “hippocampus.”

It’s a small area of your brain with a huge impact on your ability to remember and process information. NeurExpand is the first treatment center to put scientific discoveries about the hippocampus into a clinical protocol, to improve memory and related brain functions.

The hippocampus acts as a barometer for memory and cognition. While aging, injury and medical risks can affect all parts of your brain, the hippocampus is highly vulnerable to such conditions, which shrink its size and over time, diminish your memory and cognition.

The good news is that the hippocampus has a remarkable ability to bounce back. New neurons can form in the hippocampus of an adult brain. That’s right, the part of the brain most important for memory and learning can actually grow, even in adults.

In a paper published in NATURE REVIEWS/NEUROLOGY, NeurExpand chief medical officer, Dr. Fotuhi and co-authors reviewed the literature and provided scientific evidence that individuals with large hippocampi showed no signs of dementia or Alzheimer’s, despite high concentrations of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles associated with those conditions.

Dr. Fotuhi used this discovery to develop NeurExpand’s Brain Fitness Program, a multidisciplinary, whole brain protection plan. Results to date have been good to remarkable. For specifics, see patient outcomes
