Memory Loss

It happens to all of us- you forget the name of someone you just met. Or, maybe you misplaced your car keys. Forgetting names and experiencing other memory lapses are common among aging adults. But, when the problems become more and more noticeable, it may be a sign of something serious.

Fortunately, according to recent research, it appears that age-related cognitive decline and dementia are often the results of a multitude of causes—many of which can be treated.

Alzheimer’s disease cannot be cured, but is only one of the many causes of cognitive impairment with aging. Modifiable conditions, including obesity, stress, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, low levels of certain vitamins, depression, concussion, stroke, alcoholism, and diabetes are all factors that shrink the brain, especially the part of the brain, known as the hippocampus, that is critical for short-term memory.

The NeurExpand Brain Center is the only multidisciplinary clinical program devoted to improving brain performance based on solid scientific evidence. We have created a comprehensive program that uses the latest research to help aging adults improve their brain health and overall cognitive function.
